I love food!!
I enjoy sushi. I crave it sometimes. One of these times, I was sick and had thrown up a couple times earlier that day but since i was craving sushi and feeling a little bit better, I went to a sushi restaurant with one of my best friends. He, having been to this specific sushi restaurant before, ordered for the both of us. He told me that he was going to order a "surprise" for me but that he had already tried it and wasn't going to again. These were the best words of encouragement he could have possibly uttered. So, when the waiter arrived with our platter of sushi, I noticed this slimy, grayish lump on top of a piece of sushi. Thayne, the friend who had concocted this, started chortling. I picked up this gray mass and realized, it was a baby octopus. A pickled baby octopus. This meant that this animal, about the size of of the palm of my hand, had been stuck in a jar, probably with other little baby octopuses, and had soaked for who knows how long until it was thoroughly slimy and wet. That is how this sea creature came to be caught up in my chop-sticks. Thayne, informed me that he would understand if I didn't eat it because I had been sick all day and because you could still see the eye-balls on the little bugger. I proceeded to put the pickled baby octopus in my mouth, then I started chewing. Just a little tip, if you ever happen to eat a pickled baby octopus, don't chew it. Anyway, my friend was across the table grinning away at me as I masticated this animal. I finally realized I should stop chewing and swallowed the slimy ball. Then, I laughed with Thayne. The best part is that I held it down :)

I too love sushi, and I have even eaten octopus. I agree that the flavor is a little rubbery but the fact that it is served in pretty much its natural state I also find disturbing. Unfortunately that didn't keep me from eating it. Nice job!
The best part of this story was the use of the word "masticated" and that the guys name was Thayne. It also made me wonder if they farmed baby octopi, or if they catch them in the sea.
